What I have heard, Luis, is that you will probably face a bottleneck. If you have a 150 $ mic and a 50 $ interface, then your audio will be about 50 $ worth. You need the three parts (Microphone, amplifier, analog-to-digital) to be roughly equal – the interface has an amplifier and analog-to-digital converter built in.
You can slowly upgrade the microphone, cable or interface as your budget increases but the quality will be equal to the “worst” of your equipment. As far as I know the computer will not decrease the quality, unless you were to use the sound card on your computer (which you don’t when having an interface). I am not sure about the program and whether it will affect the quality, but I feel pretty sure about the rest 🙂

Question:
Will the audio interface, recording software (Audacity) and computer being used (an old HP Pavilion) affect the audio quality for the podcast?

I ask this because the trials I ran sound nothing in comparison to the sample audio file you added to the blog post. Your audio quality is years ahead of any of the trials I ran.

Could you share the very specific setup you are using to achieve it?
